4.6.6 Innovation in Research
The Nasivvik Centre for Inuit Health and Changing Environments is a multidisciplinary research and training centre funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research through the Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health. It is focused on building capacity in Inuit health research through trainee support and strategic funding initiatives in key environmental health areas of importance to Inuit communities. The Nasivvik Research Chair develops interdisciplinary research and intervention initiatives in close partnership with Indigenous communities to help understand the complex effects of environmental change on health and to support prevention and promotion efforts related to northern ecosystems and their role in sustaining health and well-being.
