In 2015/16, 4% of Canadian youth aged 12 to 17 years were current smokers – that is they smoked every day or occasionally.
The percentages varied among the provinces and territories.
29% of youth in Nunavut were current smokers as were 13% in the Yukon and 7% in PEI and Saskatchewan.
2% of youth aged 12 to 17 were current smokers in BC as were 3% in Ontario.
