5.1.6 BalancedView: An evidence-informed resource designed to reduce weight bias and stigma
In British Columbia, the BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services, the Provincial Health Services Authority and the Government of British Columbia have come together to develop an online educational resource to help healthcare providers address weight bias and stigma.

BalancedView is an evidence-informed resource designed to reduce weight bias and stigma among medical professionals, mental health professionals, allied health professionals and public health professionals across the province. It is a 5-module resource which is interactive and online. It takes approximately 2 hours to complete – and can be done any time, from any computer or smart phone. The program has 5 modules which focus on enhancing awareness and skills: Understanding Weight Stigma; Patient/Consumer Voices; Commonly-Held Beliefs and Introduction to Health-Centred Approaches; Professional Voices; and Applying Health-Centred Strategies in Practice. The program is accredited for professional development/continuing education credits.
