Unintentional injuries were the leading cause of death among 1 to 4 year-olds in 2012 – accounting for 35% of all deaths.

This was followed by congenital malformations, defects and chromosomal abnormalities accounting for 25% of deaths, and cancer accounting for 13% of deaths.
