Little current population-based data are available on the health and well-being of young children with disabilities who require daily care. For instance, little is known about:

• The impact of disability on their lives and the lives of their families.
• The extent these children able to participate in family life, early childhood care and education, community life.
• The services and supports needed by the families of young children with disabilities.
