In Canada in 2011, 31% of children under 4 years of age were in home-based child care.
One-third were in child care centres and 28% were in private care.
Those proportions varied across the regions of Canada. For example, in Québec, 50% were in home-based care, 38% in centres and only 10% in private arrangements. In the Prairie provinces, 43% were in private arrangements and only 23% in centres.
