In 2006, less than two-thirds of Aboriginal youth age 15 to 19 years had consultations with a dental professional according to the Aboriginal Peoples Survey (2006). Inuit youth were least likely to see a dental professional (56%) compared to Métis youth (68%) and First Nations youth living off-reserve (64%).

Survey data do not include First Nations children living on reserve. This may result in undercounting of children with inequities in access in some provinces/territories.
